ABOUT MEEileen Gledhill, painter in oils.My love of wild, rural and coastal scenery has combined with the discovery of oil painting to allow me to immerse myself in creating individual artworks which, I hope, impart the feeling of ‘being out there’ which I so love.
I work in oil on canvas. My inspiration comes from time spent observing and experiencing the weather and the landscapes I visit and gathering photographs and impressions, before returning to my studio to work on the ideas generated. I now exhibit through exhibitions and galleries in Cumbria. |

Recent WorksHere are some paintings I have been working on recently.
Please click on the Gallery buttons at the top of this page to find out more about them and to see more works. Top: Trees and Mist (5). (50x50cm) A favourite subject of mine. I just love being out in this sort of weather, discovering what I can and can't see! Bottom: Langdales, November. (10"x8") This was a beautiful day of soft light and Langdale colours. It is a truly inspiring place to be. |
A little history
I attended Art College way back in 1982, and
have always had something creative on the go.
I returned to University to do a BA(Hons) in
3D Design and Ceramics in the late 90s,
followed by an MA in Contemporary Fine Art.
I now paint in my studio at home, in a village
between the Lakes and the Dales.
I am a member of Green Door Artists and I
sell my work through exhibitions, galleries and
directly to private buyers.
